Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about gas fireplace repair, annual service, and maintenance in Cary and the greater Raleigh area.

How do I know if my gas fireplace needs repair?

Common signs include a pilot light that won't stay lit, a fireplace that won't ignite, weak or uneven flames, unusual odors when the fireplace is running, soot buildup, or a white film on the glass. If you notice any of these, it's a good idea to have the fireplace inspected.

How often should a gas fireplace be serviced?

We recommend an annual inspection and cleaning before each heating season. Regular service keeps your fireplace operating safely and efficiently, and often catches small issues before they become costly repairs.

What is included in an annual gas fireplace service?

Our annual service includes cleaning the burner and firebox, cleaning the pilot assembly, inspecting safety controls, checking ignition performance, inspecting the venting system (when applicable), cleaning the fireplace glass, checking flame appearance, and testing overall operation.

My fireplace won't light — can you fix it?

Yes. A fireplace that won't light is one of the most common issues we see. It's often caused by a failed thermopile or thermocouple, a faulty gas valve, a dirty pilot assembly, or an ignition system problem. We diagnose the root cause and repair it.

Do you service all brands of gas fireplaces?

Yes. We service all major makes and models, including Heatilator, Heat-N-Glo, Majestic, Superior, Regency, Empire, and others. If you're unsure whether we service your unit, give us a call.

What is the difference between a thermocouple and a thermopile?

A thermocouple is a safety device that keeps the pilot valve open when the pilot is lit. A thermopile generates a small electrical current to power the gas valve and remote systems. Both can fail over time and are common repair items.

Can you repair a remote control that stopped working?

Yes. Remote control issues are often caused by dead batteries, a failed receiver, or a wiring problem. We can diagnose and repair or replace the remote system.

Why does my fireplace glass have a white film on it?

White film on fireplace glass is typically caused by condensation or mineral deposits from combustion. It can also indicate incomplete combustion. We clean the glass and inspect the burner to address the underlying cause.

Do you service vent-free gas fireplaces?

Yes. We service both vent-free (ventless) and direct vent gas fireplaces and gas log sets.

How do I schedule a service appointment?

You can call us at 919-335-3194 or email [email protected]. We'll get back to you promptly to schedule a convenient appointment.
